Screenshot This is a Chrome extension published by Henrique Paim. It captures web pages, lets you annotate the screenshots, and records step-by-step guides. This policy explains what the extension handles and where that data goes.
Summary
Everything the extension handles stays in your browser, on your computer. The extension has no servers and no account system. It does not send any data to the publisher or to anyone else, and it contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code.
What the extension handles
The extension handles the following data only when you use it, and only to provide its features.
| Data | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Screenshots of web pages (website content) | When you capture a page, or when you click while recording a guide | To show, annotate and export the screenshot |
| Page text, such as button and field labels (website content) | While recording a guide | To write step descriptions like Click the "Save" button |
| Your clicks, typed text, dropdown choices and Enter key presses (user activity) | Only while a recording is running | To create the steps of the guide |
| Page address (URL) and title (web history) | For each capture and recorded step | To label captures and name the first step of a guide. A guide's first step shows only the site name, never the path |
| Settings | When you change them | To remember your preferences |
Typed text in password fields and fields that look like payment details is left out of step descriptions. You can also turn off typed text completely in the extension's settings ("Include typed text in step descriptions").
Screenshots show whatever is on your screen at that moment. Review them before you share a guide, and use the editor's Blur or Solid tools to hide anything sensitive.
Where the data is stored
- Screenshots, guides and annotations are stored in your browser's local database (IndexedDB) for this extension.
- Settings are stored with Chrome's extension storage. If you have Chrome sync turned on, Chrome syncs these settings between your own devices. The settings contain no page content.
- Nothing is uploaded. Data leaves your computer only when you choose to: copying to the clipboard, downloading a file, or printing.
How long data is kept
- Screenshots are deleted automatically after the period you choose (1, 7 or 30 days), unless you choose to keep them until you delete them.
- Guides are kept until you delete them.
- Uninstalling the extension deletes all of its data from your browser.
Sharing
The publisher does not receive, sell, transfer or share your data. The extension uses your data only for its single purpose: capturing, annotating and assembling screenshots into guides. It is not used for advertising, profiling, or credit or lending decisions.
Permissions
- activeTab: to capture the tab you used the extension on.
- scripting: to run the extension's own selection, full-page and recording scripts in that tab.
- storage, unlimitedStorage: to keep your settings, screenshots and guides on your computer.
- Access to all sites (optional): requested only when you start a recording, so the recording can follow you to other sites and tabs. You can revoke it in the extension's settings at any time.
Children
The extension is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly handle their data.
